Utrecht Region and Amsterdam will travel to the southern German region of Bavaria to enhance trade relations

Amsterdam and Utrecht strengthen connections with Bavaria

Amsterdam and Utrecht will travel to the southern German region of Bavaria to enhance trade relations. The Netherlands has well developed trade relations to western Germany and can profit from strengthening its connections with Bavaria. This German province represents 18% of Germany's GDP and offers attractive growth opportunities for companies and startups in the strong clusters Digital Media, eHealth and Urban mobility.

The collaboration between the Amsterdam and Utrecht regions is unique. It's a first that two Dutch regions organize a trade mission together. The fact that over 90 participants, including a large amount of startups take part in the mission adds to the innovative nature of this trade mission. The objective is to build and enhance the networks within Bavaria, because business relations in southern Germany are mainly built upon personal relations. It would be encouraging to conclude the mission with agreements on further collaborations, but we're not expecting any deals to be closed over the four day mission. Those kind of results are usually expected as an outcome of extensive collaboration and networking over the time of one to three years.

Digital Media
Bavaria is an attractive market for digital media companies as around a quarter of the German top-100 media businesses are based here, for example United Digital Group and Kabel Deutschland GmbH. Over the 11-12 February weekend 8 Dutch companies will participate in Digital Media Camp. This two day crash course offers great possibilities to learn about the activities of the Bavarian digital media sector, share ideas, for example at the round table session hosted by Roland Berger consultancy and make new contacts. Additionally, on Monday February 13 the delegation will visit key industry players in Munich, like Süddeutsche Zeitung and Bayerische Rundfunk.

eHealth
On February 13 and 14 the eHealth delegation partake in a programme that boasts great opportunities to connect with counterparts and potential partners in Bavaria. On February 13 the delegation will visit the Medical Valley in Erlangen. The next day the Department of Environment and Health of the City of Munich will welcome and host the delegation. Hereafter the programme continues with a visit to a major medical clinic. A variety of company visits, networking opportunities and roundtable discussions will benefit Dutch companies that offer digital health applications for the German market. The advantage of the German healthcare system is its potential for further digitization.

Urban Mobility
Bavaria has a leading position within Europe in the development of sustainable mobility solutions. Its world-class mobility clusters in which industry, government and knowledge institutes collaborate, Bavaria sets an example to the world. The Amsterdam-Utrecht mission brings together different parties in the mobility sector to exchange knowledge, learn from each other and build sustainable alliances for cooperation between these highly innovative regions. A two day programme will focus on sharing insights on technology, governance and culture in the fields of a.o. 'sharing mobility', 'multimodality' and 'mobility as a service'. For instance on February 13th participants will partake in the E-Monday event that brings together companies like BMW and MAN, but also over a hundred representatives of the E-mobility sector, such as Siemens.

Bootcamp voor startups
During the two-day startup bootcamp in Munich startups and scale-ups from Utrecht and Amsterdam will be introduced into Munich's thriving startup-ecosystem. The startups will gain valuable information from experts, service providers, lead users and peers on a soft landing in Munich, and learn how to expand and scale their companies in the German market. This will be realised by an intensive programme, including networking and pitching opportunities, corporate-roundtables and company visits.
